What's Happening in Goleta: Chipotle Coming to Goleta

The popular Mexican restaurant chain Chipotle will open a new location in Goleta. The restaurant will be located adjacent to Rusty’s Pizza Parlor and The Mac Shac on Hollister Road and is expected to open its doors by fall 2010. A city construction board accepted building designs last week and will give final approval for the project next week.

Plans for the restaurant include construction of a new patio for outdoor seating.

The new Chipotle will give Goleta and Isla Vista residents yet another option for burritos, in addition to local restaurants like Freebirds, Chino’s Rock & Tacos, Baja Grill and Super Cuca’s.

Events in Goleta: DUI Checkpoint

GOLETA – Law enforcement will be out in force through Sunday determined to make sure motorists have a safe and sober celebration.

The Goleta Police Department says checkpoints will be conducted on the night of January 2, 2010 in that city.

It is all a part of California’s 18 Day Holiday DUI Crackdown Campaign.

Law enforcement agencies are deploying 300 DUI/Drivers License Checkpoints statewide.

“In this day and age there simply is no excuse to drink and drive. From the designated driver to the comparatively inexpensive price of a taxi, there should be no one driving under the influence,” said Goleta Chief of Police Phil Willis.
